The SciSys Electronic Architecture Framework (SEAF™) is a unique software layer that sits above an underlying network and systems architecture within a vehicle/vessel providing an integrated computing platform for delivering capability enhancing functionality to the crew.
SEAF™ allows the crew members to monitor and control the platform safely from their seats and integrates mission aids such as charting or RADAR.
SEAF™ also provides a seamless interface with the remainder of the unit and fleet, transforming the platform into a truly network-enabled asset.
The SEAF™ design is based around the use of commercially available electronics hardware – no bespoke electronics are used, reducing cost and increasing flexibility. Its software centric approach means that any part of the system can be replaced throughout the lifetime of the vessel with minimal or no impact on the other elements of the system.
SciSys’ proven publish-subscribe architecture with a library of hardware adaptors mean our system will work with any sensor or control hardware, existing or future, as long as there is an interface specification.
Many new or replacement hardware items will simply drop into the architecture as they will conform to standards such as CAN-bus or NMEA.
SEAF™ is typically used where real-time mission critical data is needed, where disparate data sources need to communicate through an integrated layer to a Human Machine Interface (HMI) and where the operating requirements are changing constantly.
