For the implementation of the GIOVE-B Mission Control System and simulators a variety of methods, tools and technologies have been used.
Unified Modelling Language (UML) and Rational Rose have been used by the implementation teams for both the Mission Control System and the simulator. UML provides a graphical means of defining the architecture and behaviour of a system.
An Object Oriented methodology has been used in the design and implementation of the core elements of the system, written in C++ on Linux platforms (MCS) and Windows 2000 platforms (simulator).
