MERLIN is an Internet/Intranet application using web technology linked to an ORACLE database.
This allows for a simple and scaleable deployment of the Application to users with a minimum footprint on the user workstation.
Application and Policy Help files are provided as either MS Word documents or Adobe Acrobat files. Images can be held in any browser compatible format. Printing can either be controlled through the Application or done via the web browser on the workstation.
The main application software is written in DHTML and Java script, using XSL style sheets for presentation and XML for structured data handling.
In addition COM+ components, written in VB, are used to handle the connection threads between the Web Server and the Database Server utilising the ORACLE OLEDB driver.
The Application uses the multi-user version of the Quick Address Names Tracer and Dataplus for address validation when inserting new data.
