Planning and mapping perform a key role within the management and monitoring of the environment. Many of the services required by this sector are complimentary to those utilised by mainstream environmental regulators and companies and there are obvious synergies between these two markets.

- A new Geographical Information System (GIS) based Mining Information System to allow the Coal Authority to meet its objectives as a consultee in the planning process
- National Flood and Coastal Defence Database (NFCDD), a fully GIS-enabled asset management system that provides the definitive repository for all data on flood and coastal defences. A crucial tool in planning responses to predicted and actual flood events.
- Provision of consultancy services to define a service oriented and GIS enabled architecture for environmental mapping services
- Consultancy services to provide a technical strategy for a key business area within the Planning Inspectorate
- Production of system design specifications in response to changes in the 2008 Planning Bill
