SciSys has been contracted by the European Space Agency to build a simulation framework to aid the design and development of Entry, Descent and Landing Systems (EDLS).
The framework is based upon the Mathworks Matlab® and Simulink® products. It provides the developer with a set of fully validated models and pre-integrated simulation environments. Thus a developer can focus on the system under study rather than on the simulator itself.
EAGLE-SE™ software includes tools and blocks for modelling and simulating spacecraft entry descent and landing systems in the Mars, Moon or Earth environment. It includes blocks that implement mathematical representations of:
- Sensors
- Actuators
- Guidance, Navigation and Control Algorithms
- Six Degrees of Freedom (6DoF) dynamics
- Parachute
- Heat shield
- Aero thermal dynamics
- Fuel sloshing
- Many more!
EAGLE provides capability for the user to simulate through the development lifecycle, from early system concept design to hardware in the loop testing, utilising dSpace simulator hardware and ESA RASTA equipment.
In addition EAGLE modelling standards and guidelines provide developers with all they need to add new functionality to the EAGLE suite.
