RWE Thames Water

Notes Managed Service (NMS)

RWE Thames Water is the world's third largest water provider with over 20,000 employees worldwide. SciSys have supported and maintained the Thames Water Lotus Notes environment since 1997. During this time the application and service provided has evolved into a full end-to-end global managed service.

What makes this service so effective is its ability to provide a re-active support service for Thames Water's 8000 users and a pro-active service that enables SciSys to recommend and implement products and upgrades designed to enhance and improve Thames Water's Notes environment.

In 2002, SciSys introduced collaboration into Thames Water in the form of Lotus Quickplace. This was incorporated into the Knowledge Management Team and is now used worldwide for the sharing of secure company information, the software also has the functionality of running 'virtual' meetings and instant messaging. This system has improved server performance as documents are now stored centrally in a secure manner rather than many copies being stored on various messaging systems.

SciSys have also played a major part in the implementation of mobile device systems and servers, mainly Blackberry, into Thames Water. This allows mobile users the ability of staying connected with wireless access to their email, corporate data, and phone, web and organiser details.

Technology

Lotus Notes R5 runs on AIX and NT servers with a Windows 2000 front end. SciSys are currently involved in the upgrading of Thames Water from R5 to Notes Domino 6 client and server.
