It holds information about missing persons and related data which has been found to be relevant to this area. MERLIN has gained widespread acceptance within the organisation and has even been mentioned on national television on "The Bill".
Web browser technology is deployed on the Metropolitan Police Service intranet to provide information rapidly and securely to some 16,000 users across 100 locations.
SciSys provides application support for MERLIN 7 days a week, and works closely with the customer's Infrastructure partner, ATOS Origin, in order to jointly resolve incidents reported with the system.
SciSys is also working with the Metropolitan Police to enhance the system over time to meet changing business requirements
Technology
Merlin is written using XML, ASP and Oracle, with a Windows 2000 front end. It operates within the customer's locked down workstation environment which is code named "AWARE".
