NBC BISA employs well established NATO and UK military procedures alongside the latest technologies to support NBC detection systems. Based upon Dstl's dispersion plume modelling, the NBC BISA provides the armed forces with comprehensive life-saving information. It combines a vast amount of information such as meteorological data, terrain topology, and agent type.

NBC BISA is a joint service application which is capable of implementation on any command and control infrastructure including BOWMAN.

The NBC BISA is developed in C++, and interacts with the hosting command and control system through interfacing wrappers. These wrappers pass key external information, such as meteorological data and the location of units to the core mathematical models that calculate the likely path and nature of the threat.

NBC BISA is becoming operational in 2005.
