Essex & Suffolk Water supplies water to 1.7 million customers across an area of 3,000 sq. km in two separate areas in Essex and Suffolk. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Northumbrian Water Group which is one of the ten water and sewerage businesses in the UK and has an annual turnover of some £580m.
Essex & Suffolk Water operates a large number of loggers and sensors which measure flow, volume and pressure of water at key points in the network as well as alarms at operational sites. The data is collected in real time and managed by Essex & Suffolk Water's Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system.
SciSys first started working with Essex & Suffolk Water in 1990 when it delivered the first version of its SCADAMaster system. This product is owned by SciSys and is operated under licence by Essex & Suffolk Water. A copy of the code is held by a third party under an escrow agreement in order to protect the rights of the customer in the event of an insolvency situation.
The Support Service covers software errors with an ability to pay for software enhancements as required. Support is normally provided in office hours but the service is available on selected Public Holidays at the customer's request.
