Ricardo de Freitas came straight from university to SciSys as part of the graduate programme in June 2000. Since then Ric has worked on a variety of projects lasting anything from two months to two and half years and is now a senior applications developer.
"The projects I have worked on have involved me in a range of technologies from web based languages to C++ and C. Each project has brought its ups and downs but the work has always been highly rewarding. I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to work at a number of customer sites, which has been excellent for broadening my experience and helping me develop a real understanding of our customers' businesses. One of the most interesting projects involved running workshops for a group of non-technical users in order to capture requirements for a system I went on to help build.
At SciSys I have gained experience of the whole development cycle from capturing requirements, design, development and testing through to product support. I prefer the software development side of the job, but I feel fortunate to have had the chance to experience a wide range of duties and activities in a variety of large commercial projects. Although sometimes projects can be a bit of a roller coaster ride, with steep learning curves and tight deadlines, I have to say I have never been bored and the last five years have just flown by.
I also enjoy attending the various events organised by the company's Sports & Social Club ranging from quiz nights to go-karting."
