Mark Colenutt, a project manager, has been with SciSys since 1997 after leaving a small software company that delivered a specialised product into a niche business area. One of his main reasons for moving to SciSys was the opportunity to broaden his knowledge of the IT Industry, not just in terms of technology but also in the commercial aspects of doing business in the sector.
"SciSys has provided me with the opportunity to work on many different projects, working with different technologies and a variety of different organisations. Each has built up my experience and taught me how to deal with the challenges, as well as the successes, of software development and implementation. Expanding my breadth of knowledge in this way has enabled me to progress from a software developer, with knowledge of the development life cycle, to a project manager implementing a project deliverable through the application of the development life cycle. I have recently become an accredited PRINCE2 Practitioner.
The most interesting, and probably most satisfying, projects have been where a number of different technologies are integrated to give real business benefit to the client. These technologies can include the niche experience of integrating COTS products to our bespoke developments across a variety of programming languages."
