SciSys provides a range of IT solutions and consultancy services to clients serving the Defence Sector and the MoD itself. We are focussed in two principal areas of IT development within the MoD:
In Operational systems we have become an experienced supplier of cutting edge systems in three key capability areas for the defence market:
-
Electronic Architectures that allow all multiple systems, sensors and other hardware to communicate, be monitored and controlled from a single interface and integrated with other mission aids such as situational awareness (mapping) and communications. We call this capability SEAF™ (SciSys Electronics Architecture Framework). SEAF™ has been used in land vehicles (FRES case study), marine vehicles (RNLI) as well as complex messaging environments (JETTS and Bowman). See the SEAF™ capabilities page for more infomration.
-
Network Enabled Capability (NEC) systems that allow the proactive use of live information in making battlefield decisions. SciSys has produced practical NEC applications that support the war fighter. Examples are our contribution to the Makefast BISA (Battlespace Information System Application) for the Royal Engineers, the Nuclear Biological and Chemical BISA and the Joint Effects Tactical Targeting System, JETTS
-
Mission Planning and Synthetic environments. The ability to visualise, test and confirm the capabilities of planned systems and individual missions for operational systems is becoming increasingly important in Defence, reducing risks, improving investment and likelihood of mission success. SciSys provides services to a wide range of programmes in this area. A good example is the Battlefield Access for Unmanned Underwater Vehicles Study
In Administrative systems we are members of the FATS and ICS catalogues, and have undertaken many development and consultancy assignments across the MoD. Many of these systems utilise our core skill in thin client (browser based) database information systems, ready for the deployment of DII (Defence Information Infrastructure).
SciSys is committed to Research in the defence arena – for example we are members of the aerospace and defence, sensors and road transport knowledge transfer networks, and actively participate in Technology Strategy Board projects.
